EXPERIENCE
January 2003 - Present. President, Professional Office Consulting, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Reviewed operations of many small law firms in central Indiana. Recommended and implemented changes in hardware and software, make recommendations for personnel changes to make the firms operate more efficiently.
Major Accomplishment:
Prepared a job description for a firm administrator, convinced firm for the need of a managing partner, hired a firm administrator, and held a firm retreat to resolve problems with the partnership agreement.
March 1992/December 2002. Administrator, Rubin & Levin, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Performed all management aspects of law office management. Reorganized the accounting department from five to two positions. Kept expenses below the level of inflation. Improved office automation with additions of state-of-the-art software and hardware.
Major Accomplishment:
Increased staff morale and quality through selective hiring, sincere empathy with employee personal problems, and employee participation in management decisions.
December 1988/March 1992. Administrative Director and General Counsel, Indianapolis Zoo, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Managed all non-animal aspects of the Zoo. Wrote or reviewed all contracts for the Zoo. Completely revised the Zoo's retirement and health plans. Successfully represented the Zoo in all EEOC complaints. Successfully conducted a reduction in force to bring the budget in line with income. Designed and installed a new PC-based gate cash register which allowed for capture of promotional and membership attendance data.
Major Accomplishment:
Re-organized the staff to allow for the transition from an $800,000.00 per year budget to an $8,000,000.00 per year operation.
January 1982/December 1988. Director of Administration, Baker & Daniels, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Directed all non-legal management aspects of 153-attorney law firm operating out of Indianapolis with branch offices in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Washington, D.C. Advise the management committee and managing partner on all matters pertaining to finance, personnel, office automation and overall operation of the firm. Specific duties included reviewing hiring policy to insure the quality of proper number of trained support staff; preparing staff policy manuals; developing capital and expense budgets; supervision of accounting, library and all other staff functions. Managed the administrative aspects of merging with a 25 attorney firm in Fort Wayne, Indiana; responsible for the selection, installation and conversion to the state-of-the-art word processing system for a savings of $220,000; responsible for the selection and installation of a DEC VAX 8250 and new time and billing software system.
Major Accomplishment:
Managed the financial costs to achieve the lowest ratio of firms our size in the Price Waterhouse financial law firm survey.
September 1975/December 1981. Manager of Administrative Services; AMTRAK, Beech Grove, Indiana.
Managed the financial, data processing, personnel and labor relations aspects of a heavy-repair passenger car maintenance facility with an annual budget of $72 million and 1,300 employees. Prepared expense and capital budgets and kept the facility within these budgets during the period of rapid rising costs. Conceived and installed accrual accounting system which improved budget control for the operation. Became familiar with both DEC PDP 11-34 and IBM equipment.
Major Accomplishment:
Designed, programmed and implemented an innovative computerized shop-management system which provided timely labor production and budget data on an information retrieval system.

Twenty-one years of leadership and management experience of both line and staff positions.
Line Management:
1. Primary responsibility of 120-150 man units with $100-300 million in equipment.
2. Executive Officer of 1,600 man unit.

1. Supervised foreign nationals (Italian, Greek and Turkish) in Naples, Italy.
2. Supervised computer programmers and systems analysts, integrating war gaming models to operate on the CDC 6400 computer.
3. Wrote, coordinated and implemented major Army regulation; established an information retrieval system for testing information and managed the Army testing budget of $150 million.
4. Conceived and directed employment of an innovative, integrated ground surveillance radar system which effectively stopped enemy rockets from attacking the Saigon area for extended period of time.
5. Assistant Professor, United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. Developed the course material for teaching computer programming to cadets.
